Sri Lanka Tourist Arrivals Fall the Least in 7 Months
The number of tourist arrivals in Sri Lanka dropped 9.5 percent year-on-year to 176,984 in November 2019, after a 22.5 percent plunge in the previous month. It was the eighth consecutive monthly fall in tourist arrivals, but the smallest decline since April, following attacks in the Indian Ocean Island on Easter Sunday. Considering the first eleven months of the year, the number of tourist arrivals decreased 19.6 percent to 1.672 million. Since the Easter Sunday attacks, the number of foreign visitors has fallen to the lowest level since the end of the country's civil war a decade ago.

Sri Lanka Tourist Arrivals Fall the Least in 6 Months
The number of tourist arrivals in Sri Lanka declined 22.5 percent year-on-year to 118,743 in October 2019, after a 27.2 percent plunge in the previous month. It was the seventh consecutive monthly fall in tourist arrivals, but the smallest drop in six months, following attacks in the Indian Ocean Island on Easter Sunday. Visitors from Europe accounted for 37 percent of all tourist arrivals and those from the Asia-Pacific region accounted for 56 percent. Among major sources of tourist traffic to Sri Lanka, the number of visitors fell the most from India (-13.0 percent to 33,217), China (-38.1 percent to 11,683), the UK (-50.4 percent to 8,763) and Germany (-21.2 percent to 7,820). Considering the first ten months of the year, the number of tourist arrivals dropped 20.7 percent to 1,495 million. Since the Easter Sunday attacks, the number of foreign visitors has fallen to the lowest level since the end of the country's civil war a decade ago.

Sri Lanka Tourist Arrivals Fall for 6th Month
The number of tourist arrivals in Sri Lanka dropped 27.2 percent year-on-year to 108,575 in September 2019, after a 28.3 percent decline in the previous month. It was the sixth consecutive monthly fall in tourist arrivals, following attacks in the Indian Ocean island on Easter Sunday. Visitors from Europe accounted for 34 percent of all tourist arrivals and those from the Asia-Pacific region accounted for 58 percent. Among major sources of tourist traffic to Sri Lanka, the number of visitors fell the most from India (-10.5 percent to 28,917), China (-52.9 percent to 9,231), the UK (-41.5 percent to 14,226) and Australia (-21.2 percent to 8,746). Considering the first nine months of the year, the number of tourist arrivals went down 20.5 percent to 1,376 million. Since the Easter Sunday attacks, the number of foreign visitors has fallen to the lowest level since the end of the country's civil war a decade ago.

Sri Lanka Tourist Arrivals Fall for 5th Month
The number of tourist arrivals in Sri Lanka declined 28.3 percent year-on-year to 143,587 in August of 2019, following a 46.9 percent tumble in the previous month. This was the fifth straight month decline in tourist arrivals, as decreases were reported among visitors from China (-64.2 percent to 9,503), followed by the UK (-40.2 percent to 14,132), France (-35.7 percent to 7,087), Germany (-29.1 percent to 7,667), and Australia (-27.4 percent to 5,985). Conversely, visitors from India, the Sri Lanka’s largest source market for tourists jumped (17.0 percent to 37,568). Visitors from Europe accounted for 38 percent of all tourist arrivals and those from the Asia-Pacific region accounted for 51 percent. In the first eight months of the year, the number of tourist arrivals fell 19.9 percent to 1,127 million.

Sri Lanka Tourist Arrivals Fall for 4th Month
The number of tourist arrivals in Sri Lanka dropped 46.9 percent year-on-year to 115,701 in July of 2019, following a 57 percent plunge in the previous month. This was the fourth straight month decline in tourist arrivals, as decreases were reported among visitors from India, the Sri Lanka’s largest source market for tourists (-41.0 percent to 18,309), followed by the UK (-48.4 percent to 13,010), Germany (-22.5 percent to 8,386), France (-36.8 percent to 7,142), and China (-74.8 percent to 6,926). Visitors from Europe accounted for 50 percent of all tourist arrivals and those from the Asia-Pacific region accounted for 38 percent. In the first seven months of the year, the number of tourist arrivals fell 19.7 percent to 1,124 million.

Sri Lanka Tourist Arrivals Fall 57% YoY in June
The number of tourist arrivals in Sri Lanka dropped 57 percent year-on-year to 63,072 in June of 2019. The biggest declines were reported among visitors from India (-54.4 percent to 15,048), Australia (-55.9 percent to 4,410), the UK (-63.9 percent to 4,365) and China (-82.9 percent to 3,496). Visitors from Europe accounted for 32 percent of all tourist arrivals and those from the Asia-Pacific region accounted for 54 percent. In the first six months of the year, the number of tourist arrivals fell 13.4 percent to 1,008,449.
